I bought a mini netbook from a friend, but no cdrom. So came online and searched to land on amazon.com with this. At 1st i wonder will it work? So i took the chance and behold it worked wonderfully. I have a Hp 1116nr netbook, i plug the 2 usb cable in and poped Win Xp into the drive 1st boot up i was installing windows. I would recommend this to anyone with a type of netbook. If you useing it to install windows like i was, just make sure you know how to set the boot up for cd-rom. The only down side is it uses up 2 usb ports. 1 for power and other for drive, other then that it worked great.

This works well. It doesn’t play DVDs, so if that’s what you are looking for, keep moving. But other than that, it’s extremely easy to use. Just plug and play.

Excellent product, does what it says it will. My CD drive on my computer is ill, using this is helping my avoidance of the problem! Am very satisfied with this purchase.

I was surprised by the sturdiness of this product. It worked immediately upon plugging it into my laptop. I’m using it with a Dell mini Inspiron 10 that runs windows 7 starter.

Hey, bought this little USB CROM drive about a year ago to load a new OS on my AA1 netbook. My netbook is one of those early really barebones jobs with solid state storage (no HDD) and no optical drive & that’s why I bought it, it’s so small. But I didn’t like the OS it came with, so needed to install a beefier Linux OS so I could actually do some work on it like word processing and running spreadsheets like my desktop would do. I bought this drive because it was the cheapest one available – think it was about thirteen bucks. It uses two USB cables – one regular one for data transmission and another to power the drive motor. I use it for all kinds of other stuff too – it’s really handy to have an extra little CD drive around that’s no bigger than a pop-tart. It’s so small I actually take it with me sometimes when I travel on the motorcycle with the netbook.
